Using the beautiful backdrop of Lake Martin, Alexander City, Alabama native John Denney uses his artistic talent to transform nature and wildlife into spectacular works of art. A self-taught artist, John prefers both his paintings be true-to-life and his photography larger than life.

John has won numerous awards for both his paintings and photography over the years including the prestigious Alabama Duck Stamp Competition three times - in 2017, 2013 and 2008, and was a runner up in 2012.  He has also won awards with his entries in the Alabama Wildlife Federation Art Show including Best of Show in 2011 and Best of Wildlife in 2010 and 2016 and the Award of Excellence in 2014. In 2014 he was awarded an Ozzie Award for his original paintings that appeared in the national quail hunting publication, Covey Rise magazine.

In addition to his paintings, John’s photography has won numerous awards and has appeared in Ducks Unlimited magazine, Alabama Outdoors magazine, and Alabama Living magazine.

John's graphic art work is found nationwide on anything from t-shirt designs, to catalogs and even in the Clint Eastwood movie Million Dollar Baby and the Nicholas Cage movie World Trade Center. His clients include Ducks Unlimited, Mossy Oak, Duck Commander, National Wild Turkey Federation, Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops and Nike.

John continues to hone his craft and expand into other artistic endeavors by taking on projects outside of the wildlife and nature sphere, striving to become not only a top artist in the areas he loves, but also to become an all around remarkably gifted artist.
